Aqsis 1.0 finally see's the light of day!!

Well, we finally made it, albeit not entirely as I'd hoped. There are still some known issues with this 1.0 release, but they can be ironed out on the 1.0.x maintenance branch.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped throughout the development of the product as it currently stands. There have been many people helping with all aspects of the product, from design, to development and documentation. The Authors file should show a good representation of those involved, if anyone is missing, please let me know, I am really keen for all contributors to get the appropriate acknowledgement, I couldn't possibly have done this myself.

New site now has RSS feeds

I have enabled the RSS feeds for the new Aqsis site. See the :: Main Menu for the link.

At the moment only News, Forums, Links and Downloads are syndicated. It is possible to syndicate other area's via plugins but I don't know when/if I will get time to do that.

New Aqsis Site Goes Live!

After much work, and one disastrous Worm attack, the new site is now live. If you are seeing this news post, you are seeing the new site.

The site is based on the XOOPS CMS, which importantly, allows for more user collaboration. Most of you will have read about my good news on the old forums, as such I will have very little time to work on Aqsis or the site in the immediate future. The new site allows users to contribute news, downloads, FAQ entries, links, etc. which I (or other admins) can authorize. I am hoping this will mean, with your assistance, that the site will continue to remain active, perhaps moreso than before, without my intervention.

 The migration to the new site is as complete as I was able to achieve. The forums content should have been migrated almost completely, including posts, and user registrations, so those who were already registered should be able to login with the same username/password as before.

One small issue to note, the size of user sigs is more restricted in XOOPS than phpBB, so some of you with longer sigs may notice some problems, please edit your sig to fit within the 256 byte constraint of XOOPS as soon as you can.

If anyone notices any other problems, or has any comments, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Cheers, and a Happy New Year to all!

Aqsis 0.9.3 released

Source and Win32 packages, RPM's to follow.

This is mainly a bug fix release, lots of bugs eliminated. Some optimisations and changes in functionality, see the changelog for details.

This should be, fingers crossed, the last release before 1.0. I hope to clean up the last of the bugs before 1.0, but if time proves to be against us, it may get released with a couple of known minor bugs.

0.9.2 Finally Released

The Source, Windows installers, and RPM's for release 0.9.2 are finally available for download. This is quite a major change from 0.9.1 (even I didn't realise just how much has changed until I came to do the release note). See the changelog, linked off the home page, for details of changes.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this mammoth release.

Work will now continue towards 0.9.3 to give include a MacOSX release, and to clean up outstanding bugs and get the test suite passing. Once 0.9.3 is released, it will be left in the wild for a while to check stability before 1.0.
